got lamin-x headlight & fog light kit installed by winners ('05 slk350)

i purchased my lamin-x kit from somewhere else and brought it to winners window tint to install them and do 35% tint all around. laurence said he was glad i didn't bring a lower quality kit to him. i'm satisfied with the lamin-x and the tint job. i got gunsmoke color btw.

Looks good, James. Do you know the legality of the smoke tint on the headlights?

thanks, seyla. idk-i've passed by one cop so far without any problems. at least it's more of a "blackhousing" look instead of a complete "black out/gangsta" look. it looks darker from a distance and in the pictures-you'll have to see it in person. you can still see everything inside of the headlight housing. gunsmoke is the darkest you can go for the headlights and the lightest you can go for the tail lights. i just ordered a 12"x24" universal gunsmoke sheet to get the side mirrors, side markers, middle part of tail lights, and 3rd brake light custom made by winners.

oh yea, i also went to eye kare express for an eye exam for the sun-shading waiver application.

headlight & fog light colors (some kits include both like the evo x):
    clear
    tint
    gunsmoke
    optic blue
    yellow

    tail light colors:
    red
    gunsmoke
    smoke
    charcoal

Looks pretty good. Trying to decide if I should try to paint my tailights with the Testors transparent red or just order the red tint from Lamin-X.

  6. Soory to tell everyone that while the headlights look awesome, they are illegal in Maryland. In MD, headlights must be white in color. Any required lamp, lens, or reflector that is obscured by any object or shielded by a nontransparent material, or any headlamp equipped with aftermarket clear, tinted or screen type color is prohibited.

With that said, I haven't had any client, except one, get stopped because of the headlights. That one person got pulled over TWICE within half an hour of leaving my shop. He had tinted his headlights Optic Red.

so the Z's and Porsches that have the yellow headlight (not sure if they are tint or aftermarket) that i saw at the CPT car show this past weekend are also illegal i'm guessing?

how much did u pay for the tint and the labor

03volkevo8, i would lean towards red tint film from lamin-x. i've seen decent results with DIY paint but i think the color/quality from the film would look more consistent. the film can be pulled back and reapplied several times if not installed correctly from the initial application. i'm not sure how much room for error there is with testors. plus, if you ever change your mind in the future, you can always remove the film without damaging your tail lights. seyla just ordered lamin-x red tail light covers for his evo so we'll see how that turns out.

you meant optic blue right? and i thought va was a pain in the ass... i always assumed that optic blue and yellow were OK vs smoked colors. sent you a pm, daesup45.
