I have decided to share my Info. on Drag racing......feel free to add or comment...
1/4mile time = traction of your car
1/4mile speed(trap speed) = the power of your car

If you dont beleive me try this, when you go to the track rev your car at

high RPM you will get a kick ass time on our cars, BUT if you dont rev it at

all, you will get a crappy time but your trap speed will be the same(putting

into consideration your shifts are the same)

To see if you are a good drag racer or not compare time and speed with

other drivers. For example, if you get 13.3 @102 and

some1 else gets 13.8 @ 105 that means your are a better driver or have

better traction but he\she has a more powerful car.

When launching: Slip ur clutch dont drop it, u might get a slight slower time

of .03 but it will wear out the clutch instead of ur tranny, diff., transfer case,

all that expensive to replace parts. Stock EVO best launch at 6500rpm. EVOs

with Turbo back 5500rpm.

Shifting: always redline your car so u can land on the sweet spot which is

6500rpm on stock EVOs. Dont power shift or drop clutch cuz it will result in a

loud thumping noise which is ur driveshaft and gearbox.

kick a$$ reaction time:

On a Stock tree(drag yellow, yellow, yellow, green light) slip ur clutch at the

last yellow light.

On a Pro tree(drag yellow, green light ) slip ur clutch at the yellow light.

7 of my buddies and I rented MIR last season for one day all by ourselves and

i did all kinds of experiments and the rest of the infos are just facts.

I dont know a lot of info about TRACK racing, but for those who have

upgraded clutches (ON-OFF engagments instead of slipping) use the

heel-and-toe(raising ur foot off the clutch while reving ur car and breaking)

cuz if you just downshift or upshift and drop the clutch u just wont like what

u hear or what u might break. It also works with stock clutches for better

times BUT the reason I am not concerned about stock clutchs cuz if u dont

heel-and-toe it wont harm your car.

***BTW sorry if you already know this or I bored you with my post but I am

in class and the teacher is soo damn boring so i decided to waste a thread :)

that suck cuz the 1/8 is all about the launch......im suprised u only dragged 1/8 cuz 1/8mile is used for the Pro Dragsters that dont have enough parachute and breaking power to stop, soo that is when they made up 1/8

G0T2EVOS........damn that was u, ur my neighbor, i always see ur red EVO...i never knew ur in the forums.....well sorry about the fly by, but i needed the restroom....loool

yeah well even with a boost leak i was running 1.899/1.9 60 ft and 8.7 1/8 so i figure i didn't do too bad... plus the tree was pro and my r/t never went above .2 did red a couple times

-EV1L 8-

boost leak????? is it ur BOV, cuz i had that same prob, put back the stock BOV and its much better

wangan_x
03-26-2004, 16:38
well... it wasn't a boost leak per se... lets just say i wasn't making boost because my intake was blocked, i had to take off the ram air to put my bov on and i forgot to put the two intake screws back on so after i reached a certain speed... the ram air actually came up and pressed against the hood so the intake was blocked so i was basically running NA with out alot of air coming in, so i was still happy. i didn't keep the BOV on because when i was home the car would idle at 300 rpm and run really rich to where i could see the black coming out of the exhaust and want to stall out...

BTW Moe are you still on your stock clutch... i have heard alot of people tell me there clutch went fast but my clutch is still as strong as when i first bought it... i have done about 90-100 launches in my car...just wondering?

hrmm why even race the 1/8th? seems like a waste of time for me....anyway... my r/t is ok .585 or .620 somethings, sometimes i fudge and get a .460

Actually my clutch didnt go bad except when im on high gear-low rpm-at full throttle.... but here is the thing, some dude bumped my car from the back and i got $1000 for my whole bumper to be fixed so i decided to spend the money on the clutch, cuz i was planning on modding my car and eventually the clutch is gonaa slip........ i had 10,000miles and almost 100runs..... I would advice, if anybody wanted to replace the clutch and dont have money to spend on a CUSCO or EXCEDY(twin-disk)...... go with the RMR Full face, stock pressure plate, and resurfacing ur flywheel($40) cuz the 6puck disk it to harsh

nastea if u were on a Pro tree and get .460 u wont get a red light.....but the stock tree is .5 so .585 is not bad at all

unless your on the new system that everyone seems to be going to where they don't put .5 a perfect is .00

i raced the eighth when i went home because

1 that is all we have
2 my friend with a 11 sec fbird wanted to race
3 1/8 is a helluva lot easier on your car

hopefully next year it will be a 1/4 the track is under new ownership and the owner wants it to be a quarter mile
