AHhhhhhhhhhhhh Just finished installing the Hi-Flow Cat, Magnaflow muffler, and the Kartboy exhaust hangers.

I previously had the JDM race muffler no cat.

The sound is MUCH better, and the Kartboy hangers improved the clearance (hopefully this will cure my Rattle mod :D ) I still, gotta take the Evo for a spin, and see how everything works out.... after CSI :p

Sweet. Those kartboys hold it so snug. It cured my rattle hope it does the same for you. Your boost will spool up a little quicker with the high flow on :)

So it will spool quicker with a cat, rather than running catless?

Yup and get higher boost aswell. No cat = less boost at least at stock setting . Backpressure will help somewhat with the turbo being able to spool faster. No cat = 17 psi stock , but that is my experience when I installed mine. You gain more torque though loss a little hp . I am running the high flow cat now, didnt like the smell much . But come summer its coming off again :)

I liked the smell :D

Thanks for the info =)

:) ya the smell isnt to bad, another reason was the CEL . I had 1000 miles on my car at the time and everytime I looked up I saw it :( This time I am gonna put some e-tape over the dam cel !!!

lol...

Well.. I noticed a problem. My boost still spikes at 21/22 but now it Tapers down to like 16psi, instead of holding at 19. It is a slow Taper, But it is at about 16/17 psi by 7000 rpm.

I hate my catless Buschur setup. I have the Kartboy hangars and it rattles like hell, the O2 sensor won't fit in the bung without being sheered by the undercarriage, and the ugly muffler and tip burns my rear bumper. I'm going to have it hacked up to fit properly and am going to put a real muffler in there.

I seriously will never buy Buschur products EVER again.

I had the same problem with mine burning the bumper. At one point when I thought I had the problem fixed, it moved itself flat against the bumper burning a hole in it. I had to pull my bumper off and take it to get repaired. To fix the fitment, I would make sure that the down pipe is bolted down pointed as far toward the passenger side as possible. I loosen the bolts, and used a Pry bar to move it to where I wanted it to point, then I tightened them back down. I would also go with their straight style Muffler. My jdm was not fitting, and I think it is because the original exhaust was not designed to be angled out like that, and it is causing problems on a lot of Evos. The Magnaflow I have now fits perfectly in the opening. If you want I can come by and help out, as long as you don't live like a state away =P

I live in Woodbridge VA, and I am often in the Tyson’s corner area.

Good luck!

I wouldn't say it's no good.

I got mine to fit where it wasn't burning the bumper. It took me like 12 times to get it right :D, but it did rattle every now and then... usually after a long trip, sitting at a stop light. Although, the rattling was rare, it was still annoying that it was happening at all. I couldn't pull the exhaust over anymore to the right to fix it though, cause it would be too close to the bumper. So I ordered the Striaght style Magnaflow. Buschur has disconntinued the JDM style mufflers, in case you haven't gotten yours already. If you don't have one yet, and want one, gimmie a PM =)

I greatly appreciate the offer but I've since left Northern VA. (I'm in DE now) I'm just going to hack it up until it fits perfectly; I want to add an HKS or comparable muffler for a more decent tone as well as a cleaner look.

I have had the same problem ever since I installed my BR turboback. I have pounded a dent into the undercarriage for the O2 sensor. I think that they kinda got in a rush during the holidays and welded a few at the wrong angle. If mine(O2 housing) was mounted/pointing 5 more degrees to the right, then I wouldn't have the rattles/rubbing that I have. This is the key to having the rest of the exhaust line up. The other problem that I have with the exhaust is the clamps and "continue to slip" fittings. UPS freight didn't help the situation by denting the slip fittings. Now, they continue to turn under the clamps due to vibration and move the muffler tip into my bumper cover. I have the Kartboy hangers and will be installing them soon. I hope this will either fix the major problems or point to what is causing the problems so I can work on fixing that. As far as Buschur Racing quality, I would still buy from them because of the way they test their products.

I just installed the Buschur 3" turbo back (with test pipe) It has more power and it is pretty loud. I had a few questions and would like some feed back. First kartboy hangers where and how much. Any pictures of them on the car with the Buschur setup. Did anyone use the stock hangers if so what did you do for the catback hanger (second one back form the tail pipe) to me it looks like I need a longer bolt with a washer. (If I do that it's not really on the hanger.) Any help or pictures or links would be greatfull. One last question the O2 sensor. Do I need to put in a O2 simulator or something like that? Will it eventully throw a cell and give me a error light???? thanks again.

If you can make it to Dulles Chik-fil-a crossroads tonight, you can look at mine. I have the Kartboy hangers (from Mach V) and you can see exactly how it's hooked up...

I won't be able to make it tonight. It's almost a two hour drive from where I live. Thanks for the offer.

Here are some install pics, particularly of the bolt I think you're talking about, and it's with the Kartboy hangers, which I bought from Dan at Mach V.

With the magnaflow muffler:

On the last image, the burns on the bumper are from my previous muffler, the magnaflow sits and sounds perfect.

That bolt, by the way, was a HUGE pain to put together. I think that part alone took as long as the rest of the install.

Thanks for the pics. I now need to get the car back on the lift and do a little twisting and adjusting.

Driving into work this morning and I get a service engine soon light. Is it because I have the test pipe? what should I do? get a "??O2 simulator??" or a high flow cat? will either of them fix the problem? Do I need to get a new O2 sensor? Just wanted to know what other membes did?

Deese Nutz

Yes. The test pipe is why you threw the CEL. I have the high-flow cat and I still had to install the O2 Simulator to get rid of the CEL. When you have the check engine light on your EVO is running an open loop fuel map which is a "limp home mode" of sorts. It makes your EVO run extra rich. As soon as I had the O2 Sim installed my gas milage improved by 5mpg.

Well I have the Buschur 3" Turbo back w/ High-Flow Cat and Magnaflow and get the SES light about once a week now too and I have noticed my car is not running as strong as it usually does. I keep disconnecting the battery and resetting and the light goes off. So you think the car still remembers this and is constantly running in limp mode? I am still getting full boost, but seems like it is taking longer to spool up. I am thinking about wrapping the 3" dp to help keep the cat warmer in hopes of getting rid of that CEL light for good

Deese Nutz

You need to get the O2 Simulator because wraping the pipe won't do it. Buschur has a no CEL policy. You should call Jarrod at Buschur and ask him about it. They should send you one free.
There is a big power difference after you install it and the CEL goes away.
AMS installed mine for $30. They also put it under the middle console inside the car to prevent the weather from messing with it. The directions say to install it under the car.
I was pulling the - cable every week too so I feel your pain!

caymandiver75
09-14-2004, 20:05
There was really a big power difference? I'm just wondering how that system works. So even if the SES light is not on, the car still keeps it in memory and keeps the car in limp mode?

Deese Nutz
09-15-2004, 05:52
Not sure how it works but there was a difference once the O2 SIM was installed.

Well I just got back and read my codes and it turns out to be a PO420 (Innefficient cat code) Guess even with a high flow cat we can still get this code. I'm going to call Buschur today and let him know and hopefully get a o2 simulator to fix the issue. By the way advanced auto parts in herndon are great. They let me use the (ACTRON CP9135 obd II card reader free of charge) all the other places around here want to charge 40 bucks to read the damn codes and reset the light!

**UPDATE**

Just got the Buscur O2 simulator installed and it appears to be working properly (blinking red) Since buschur racing didn't give me a long enough grounding wire and I wasn't about to drill into the floor board, I had to go and get some extra wire and lengthen the grounding wire. I grounded it to a screw on the hand brake under the armrest cover where something else is also grounded. Tucked the wires back in under the carpet leaving the O2 simulator standing out so I can see it under the seat. I sure hope that damn SES light doesn't comes back on in the next 200 miles or so. Wish me luck. I'll post back later after I test it out.

I have the Buscher Cat-Back (w/ DC Sport Downpipe/Test Pipe combo) w/ the Magnaflow muffler. Getting ur ECU Dynoflashed will fix the SES problem, or at least minimize the light coming on to once a month or so... I am thinking about going muffler delete to have flames coming out the back, but I might wait until next summer... :D
