View Full Version : Thinking about the 9
I am thinking about buying EVO9 and trading my 8 for it for some reason lately. Anyways, this time I would like to have the 9 but I am not as crazy about it as I was for the 8 in 2003 so if the deal is not golden i will simply not think about it.
I am thinking about the RS. If you guys know a dealer around the DC area please let me know or pm. Good dealers of course.
oh I am not in any hurry.

yeah, when the X comes out, you'll get another case of upgraditis... And it may inspire more passion than the IX does for you.
Hey man,
Try Darcars and talk to Roma. He will help you out and give the best deal he can for sure.

i wouldn't wait for the X, yes it looks waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the IX, however it is still going to be 276bhp (gentlemans agreement) prolly 300 bhp in reality. It is going to be very difficult to tune, and it is going to have a constanty changing middle diff.
plus rumors have it at a whopping 45-50K

That agreement is gone - that's why the next GT-R, next Supra, next Evo, etc. will all be well over 300hp (or 400hp). The most frequent power estimate I've seen for the Evo X is 350hp.
If I do get a X, it will be stock for a long time. If I want to mod an Evo, I'll get a VIII or IX MR.

I bought my IX because it had a lot of appeal to me as being the last of the "old guard" of Evos. I'm totally uninterested in the X, I just don't like the design direction. There will always be faster, better cars, just buy the one you can't live without if you can afford it. Otherwise wait.

was gone, the skyline and supra(which likely won't be produced) are not under that agreement anymore because they are moving the cost through the roof into exotic range. so unless the evo is 80k+ it will still be quoted at 276. Also the other reason i won't be gettin a X is it has electronic variable steering geometry built into it which makes the car understeer if the Gmeter senses there could be a problem, which will suck for those of us who like to drive hard.
I would say just hold on to the VIII until right before the X comes out. When you know more concrete details on it, then pull the trigger on a IX if you still like that better. The IX was a nice upgrade on the VIII, and I am sure the X will be another nice upgrade. The cars are getting more expensive quickly, though. My 03 VIII's sticker was $31k or so fully loaded.... my MR's sticker was almost $37k! I could believe that they charge $45k for the X.
Okay, I did not buy anything yet and I am still thinking hard about it but again I am in no rush. I got $30499 on a GSR EVO black with no sun sound or leather which is exactly what I want. The MSRP is 31999. What do you guys think?
Is it a good price?
yeah the X is gonna have quite a tag on it, if the trend keeps up. i havent checked any Evos but the new MRs so i am not sure if thats good or not Az3ar.
I don't think that's bad... It's $1500 off. Of course there will be people telling you that you can get a better deal. In the end, though, it's how you feel about the price. Also, if you are trading your old Evo, make sure you are happy with that price as well.
cotmfk, same with what i was looking at for DARCARS for my MR... its about 1500 off, but its not that bad... we'll see.

That's about what I paid (on the exact same car with the exact same options) but they gave me a ridiculous price on my trade in so it was worthwhile. I wouldn't say that's a bad deal though.
