I don't know how many of you have seen this but the other day I was going down I66 west and I saw a trooper on the right hand shoulder with someone pulled over. He was just finishing up when I was going by and he pulled out. He was in an unmarked car but the suprising thing was it was a dark blue mustang GT  . In addition as he moved up in the left lane and passed me I noticed that there were NO markings (antennae, etc.) to give the car away. The windows were tinted (looked illegal actually  ) to hide the guys inside. There were 2 troopers inside in the jump suit type uniforms with baseball caps on. So from the back and at a glance from the side you would never suspect they were troopers. Well, just as I was thinking that the guy in front of me and now next to them accelerates and moves two lanes over into the HOV lans (it was rush hour). Needless to say the lights went on immediately and they pulled him over. The lights are contained inside the back window as well, behind the tinting.

Anyway, I've seen the chevys and such but this was a complete new one to me. Watch out for the dark blue, tinted mustangs cruising the highway in VA.

That is all...over

I have seen a number of cars like this in VA and MD. MD i've seen a dark (black?) dodge avenger set up the same way. North of Baltimore I saw a king cab pick-up and an SUV with this setup. The lights are behind the tint in the back and in the grill in the front. VA also has a few unmarked cars with the strobe type lights in the headlamp, tail light and side marker covers as well. They are getting sneekier. The best I saw was the Falls Church motorcycle cop, he had parked his bike on a side street away from the corner and had a handheld gun, he was hiding behind a big oak tree! Wish I had my camera that day!

that sucks. It's like they're out to find street racers with that GT, anyone looking to try and race a 'stang GT should probably think twice next time, it could be bacon. And the state of VA is a slut for tryin to make so much money off traffic violations by using unmarked street/racer type cars like this one. Just think, how many of you would've been tempted to "play" with that GT if you didn't know it was pig. I'm sure they're makin a killing off tickets each day now.

VA sucks!! :p I haven't seen them use anything non-domestic in this area, though.

In Harrisonburg I did see a Subaru Outback station wagon...

I've seen a white unmarked GT up by Baltimore. He had somebody pulled over when I passed but then he came shooting out. When he got beside me the only thing that gave him away was the big 20" laptop attached to his dash.

Can someone answer this senario

You come up to a red light and this undercover GT pulls up next to you, you rev your engine a bit and he know's it's game on, then you launch your car (hard to squel tires AWD :D ) smoke him but stop dead on at the speed limit. Can he pull you over? (can he give you a ticket) If the car was stock.

He'd probably get you for street racing or something. I'm sure he wouldn't overlook it.

that would be reckless driving for accelerating to hard

There is a ticket for something like "unnecessary display of power"... Speeding isn't the only thing you can do "wrong" :(

As long as you do not spin the tires or exceed the speed limit you would be good but I'm sure the cop would lie and get away with it in VA! What a bunch of fucks!

In MD, I have seen mostly SUV's. An expedition, a couple of extended cab pick-up's (Chevy's one gold, one navy blue) and an explorer. Keep in mind, all the SUV's are for commercial enforcement i.e. tractor trailers, stake bodies, box trucks etc. They are out there prowling to give inspection tickets, catch trucks avoiding weigh stations and load violations. They would however pull you over if they saw you driving recklessly. As for unmarked cars, especially performance one's..........do the math.

Yes they will pull you over they will either say unnecessary display of power or unlawful acceleration. Unlawful acceleration is what a launch is considered...even if you do not brake traction.

OK, saw a grey/green Explorer/Expedition on the beltway this morning with a small truck pulled over. They were at the inner loop/270 spur. The lights were behind dark tint in the back window and the strobes in the corner light covers. I did not see if it had an official plate or just a regular plate. Be carefull out there.

I don't think they have to have a official plate but not sure.

They can and do have normal tags. I have not seen any with custom tags yet, though (vanity plates).

They can give you an exhibition of speed ticket. It is very expensive and hard to plea down.
I got one once, never chirped the tires and didn't go over the speed limit. I only hopped the front tires off the ground, no damn sense of humor at all.

At least it is fully marked! That's the first up here that I have heard that is not domestic.
