View Full Version : Who makes the "Best Exhaust" ?

memo

We all know evo is pretty new to the US Market especially compared to other European countries...

Who do you think makes the "Best Exhaust" for EVO VIII ?

It looks like JIC (Made from Titanium) is the most expensive one on the market...

If you want the lightest weight possible from an exhaust get jic ti exhaust or any other ti exhausts. You probably would be happy with just about any exhaust. It all comes down to looks and sound mostly. get turboback for most power. Works exhaust doesn't even have a muffler, probably the loudest. I want the jic full or half ti personally.

Most likely I wil be going w/ either JIC ti or RMR unless HKS comes up w/ something else...

I really like the ti exhaust from hks for the wrx. I wonder if they are going to make this for us?

I have the RMR exhaust - if you ask some of the guys who saw it on Friday night, they can tell you about it.

Are you coming to the meet on 23rd? I really like to see it in person...

I just don't like the polished look. I'll probably get jic or buscher.

I have Ultimates 3" exhaust and I'm very happy with it. Fits perfectly.

If you want loud than Buschur all the way.

I am probably going with buschar's setup with the high flow cat. It sounds loud when the car is opened up but when putting around it isnt all that bad.

If you are in no rush, you can go for the Trial Ti catback, they will probably have it out by the end of the year?

I have the JIC only cause I didn't wanna wait, but by the looks of it the Trial Ti is one piece. Very very beautiful work.

From the tuning event I went to over the weekend, I would recommend the Ultimate Racing turbo-back. It produced the highest horsepower on the dyno. In fact, it matched some other cars that had turbo-back plus cam gears!

Sadly, my B&B POS has a highly restrictive muffler (or so was the consensus) and had the worst numbers. I also could have had a crappy motor to start with, there are variances.

A car with the JIC cat-back also put up impressive numbers, but with cam gears as well.

If anyone is interested in an Ultimate Racing setup, there is a full turbo-back in the For Sale section on EvoM, it may still be available. 2,000 miles, $500

Ultimate is a really nice set-up but I didn't like the sound personally and it was little loud... just imo though..

Yeah, I think that's the reason many ppl sell them, if they do. I don't mind having less horsepower with the B&B, it's mostly in the top end, which I'll only see at the track, maybe at the auto-x. In any case, I picked mine based on the low sound recommendation, and I am happy with that aspect of it, it sounds just like stock but with a nice bass rumble that was missing in the stock setup. And even if isn't a huge gain like others, it's still significantly better than stock :P

If money is not a issue I would say Amuse.

Amuse has a really nice exhaust system, I think I like it better then the JIC. Hey, Memo don't forget to call David. BTW whats up with your cell? I can't get through, are you changing your # on people and not telling them. :(

Holy resurrected thread, Batman. I am now recommending the Buschur Racing exhaust ;)

Buschur seems to be pretty popular. Yields good power gains, gas mileage gains (that I noticed), sounds good with Magnaflow muffler, light for stainless steel, and reasonably priced. There were a good number of Buschurs on the Evos that came out to the DSM meet.

i heard a lot of good things about helix. thats what i ordered. should be in on the 28th of may. its suppsoe to be REALLY loud. like 101dbs? i got the helix downpipe, helix test pipe, helix cat-back. so after i install it and anyone wants to see it and hear it PM me. ill be more then happy to show you guys.

from what i know. all turbo back exhaust produce around the same gains. my set up cost $810. every thing is polished so it looks nice and shiny.

That's a pretty good price. Did you get the O2 housing with that as well? The Helix was my other alternative. I would definitely like to hear what it sounds like in person. Maybe, at the next meet. There are sound clips on the web.

I went with Extreme Motorsports 3" cat back. I saw a guy at the track with it and it looked nice. When he ran I loved the sound. I pick it up Tuesday.

Hey, Tom, good job...you really needed that cat-back to complete the exhaust. If you can, pick up an MBC and boost gauge while you're there...

After that, you'll need a flash to maximize the potential of all those mods, unless you join the dark side (S-AFC) :D

Yea man i got a autometer CF gauge and a cf pod which fits on the steering column. I am thinking of going with the Hallman (i thinks thats it) MBG

Sweet, I want to see how that looks in person. I, too, am going with the Hallman Pro MBC...hopefully it will get here by Tuesday so that I'll have it Wednesday night.
