Ok, it's that time again. The next Capitol Driving Club event will be on Saturday, Sep 3rd from 8-4pm. I'd like to see NO LESS than 10 Evos at this event. We've dominated the last two by taking the top 2 spots each time, and I'd like to continue that by having 3 or 4 in the top 10. Who's going or interested in going? If you've never gone and have been thinking about it, THEN LET ME KNOW. We'll get you signed up and you will have the time of your life for only $30.

I've got chairs and some extra shade. I'm going to get my auto-x cherry popped. I just hope I don't wreck up the course so bad that they have to reconstruct the whole thing.

Nah, not yet...just 12.15. Closer, but it was 95 degrees, so I may need a cooler day.

Warrtalon,
Interested. Do you have any more details? What safety equipment is required? How many runs to you usually get during the event. Since I have never done this I am sure that I will mess up the first few. Only thing that I have done that compares to this is beating up on brand new cars at GM's autoshowinmotion. Sounds like a great time. Also, it is for all makes of cars right? I have a friend that would probably be interested in bringing up his '03 cobra.

1) All you need is a helmet, and there are loaner helmets for you to use if you don't have your own.
2) You get a MINIMUM of 6 runs, which is plenty. We all mess up a few times, but there's no pressure, because you get so many runs. If there's less cars or the course is shorter, we sometimes get 7 runs. There are 2 sessions: morning and afternoon. You get 3 per session.
3) I had never done anything but drag race before I showed up 3-4 months ago, so it requires no knowledge or experience. I was lucky enough to finish pretty high on my first try while still on street tires and no suspension mods. I now have race tires, but that's about all we need in the Evo to compete.
4) All cars are welcome. There are no classes, so there will be Miatas, Triumphs, Mustangs, Evos, STi's, M3s, SLK350s, etc etc...
5) It's $30 for non-members, and you must sign up VERY QUICKLY in order to get a slot. Our membership has been growing rapidly, so the events have been filling up before open registration begins (non-member reg). For you and your friend to get a slot, you each will need to sign on as the guest of a member. I already have my guest, but we have several other members on this board who would be happy to sign you up. Give us confirmation, and we'll find you a slot...
If it wasnt on Labor day I would go. Gotta do the family picnic thing. :)
