View Full Version : DC Evo Club - Dyno Meet
Ok guys if you haven't read on evom.net, Agile auto, is doing a dyno day, now i got offered from them either separate or same day, i told Hill same day because most of evom.net members that are local are part of dc evo club. anyway here is the low down. we need goo partisipation, its gonna be 70 for 3 pulls if we get more than ten evo's...Now guys, i know we've had more at our smaller meets so lets get great turnout for this.
The next open Saturday we have at Agile is November 29th. I know it's kinda far away but that should give us enough time to get the word out and for you to free up your schedules. We'll make sure to have some free food on hand like hotdogs, chips and drinks. When it gets a little closer to the 29th I'll put up a sign up so that we can make a list of who wants to get on the dyno. That way when people start showing up we'll have some order to the madness.
We are located on the off the north side of 695. Go around 695 East or West which ever is closer for you. Get off on I-83 North and go a few miles to Padonia Rd and exit heading east(go right). Go three lights up to Rt 45 York Rd and turn left. Go thru two lights then look to the left for the Speed Shop sign on the side of the road. We are set back off the raod in a green building with white doors. Look for the Good Fortune Chinese food joint right in front of our shop. They have a huge, square, yellow sign behind ours. If you're coming from the north just come down I 83 and get off at Padonia and make a left. Then follow the same way as above.
Hill
DC Evo Club members can meet and then convoy to agile, i know where its at so if your interested lets get the ball rolling, here's a link to the original thread.

also, there is a high possibility that they will be able to do flashes on site, during that day :) should be a great time!

Damn! I was really looking forward to going to this but then the Date hit me like a brick! My twin girls turn 1 on that day and my house will be full of family.
Would I be a bad father if I ran out, met you guys, did 3 pulls then ran back before anyone noticed? ;)
I got some pretty good news from Hill
I spoke to Dynafash and they are willing to come down and do reflashes but
we have to get at least 5 people who want a reflash. Also it won't be cheap.
It will cost $539 for him to complete each car. If there is enough interest
I'll try and get him to come down in the morning on the 29th so that we
won't tie up the dyno for all the people that want just power runs. So the
first person to do a reflash might have to be here around 9 or 10 AM. Lets
see if we can get 5 people then I'll call Dynoflash again and set everything
up to sure.
Hill
Agile Automotive Performance
if you would like a reflash, (i've seen posts of 330 whp depending on mods) after the flash. post and confirm, once you confirm you need to follow through, like Hill said there needs to be 5 people that want it.
otherwise the dyno still stands

if you all don't mind I posted this on the galant boards and have a couple people interested, one for sure
thats fine.
mo,
i'm gonna get a run and tune my afr my self, just need the AFR's from the dyno pulls
what all is involved in doing the flash...? do we need an AFC for this...? if so, then i'd be out for the DynoFlash, but would still be up for the meet...
what does the flash do to the car...? boost pressures, fuel pressures...? i just need more info on this before i could commit...
no you do not need an afc... this is all programmed into the ECU, go to www.dynoflash.com and read what it does, it lifts Top speed cut, maf fuel cut, and increases redline to 7900 plus some other things

From what I've seen, it adds about 20-30whp (and some have gained up to 50whp!). He leans out your car using a lot of high tech gizmos to make sure that it's not too lean, but lean to the point that you're getting all the power you can get. He uses knock sensors and wideband O2 sensors. Probably something you can do with your AFC, but he can do it safely and program it into your computer so that you have no piggyback computers (visibile mods) on your car. He also makes boost hold steady at 20-19psi throughout your RPM ranges.

Hey guys,
I just thought I would point out, in case you are unaware, that Dynoflash is Al from EvoM. It is his personal tune of your car on the dyno. I will not say if this is good or bad, you guys can decide from your own research. He does have the fastest US Evo last I checked, though it has been heavily modified by Pruven in CT.
Aaron, I think that Chris has the Works reflash plus tuning on a dyno from when he was in Cali, I doubt he will want to reflash.

Lacoste, I agree. I'll say what you didn't want to say. :D
DynoFlash seems like an awesome product from a consumer standpoint.. there really is nothing to lose from a Stage0 tune (which is what they're offering at $500 something). It's a great bang for the buck.
I really don't like Al's attitude on the forums, however - and while the product might be great, his attitude just sucks, and I'm sure that has driven away many a customer. Just something to chew on I guess..
I believe Chris had the RMR proto reflash. I remember him expressing interest in it but I doubt there's much to gain in going from one reflash to another without adding any new mods...
lacoste, he pmed me 2 weeks ago and wanted me to drive up to CT to get it done, he's interested :)
So it looks like we have at least the 5 minimum?

As mentioned above, Al comes across as being somewhat abrasive at times on the EvoM boards. But take into account that he has about 3 regular people on there consistently badgering him and I think you'd find that some or most of his harshness on those boards is warranted.
Every time I've emailed him for information, he's been more than happy to answer my questions, and has answered them in great detail sometimes.
I have no reason to distrust him and I think he has a good product. I think he knows what he's doing, therefore I will trust him with my baby! But only for a couple hours! :)
Also, to Diesel, we're coordinating Al (dynoflash) coming to Agile Auto on Nov 29 to do some Dynoflashes in the morning, and the rest of the day will be dyno time for folks with Evos and some without Evos! :)
yes, agile has promised if we got 5 people that dynoflash will be there.
Hill is also going to see if we get more than 5 (which we have) for the flash, if we can get more of discount, so far it doesn't look good because of contributing factors. but.. just fyi
It would be good to get a couple more just to be sure we have 5 in the event unforeseen events prevent someone from showing up.
I can understand the scheduling issues this could be creating for Agile. They were probably planning on some quick dyno passes and now they have a minimum of 5 lengthy tuning sessions. I'd be willing to get the Dynoflash the day before if it helped the logistics. I'm not trying to make it too complicated... just a thought. I guess it would depend on Al's travel plans. If he planned to come down on Friday and stay overnight to be ready for the 29th then maybe a Friday (28th) reflash makes sense by freeing up time that would otherwise be needed on the 29th.
Agile Aotomotive... where exactly is that...? do you have an address...?
ehhh, found it... just outside of Baltimore... only 1.5 hours... much better than 4 to CT... :(

You would need to get some sort of logging/monitoring tool, like FJO. Also, it's useless to use the stock AF sensor, so you'd have to go out and get a wb02 while you're at it.
yes you can, thats what mitsu does, you just need all the right equiptment
zstryder
11-02-2003, 05:03
Hm, any updates on the price of this? I've been thinking about this reflash (currently have SAFCII)...
But I kind of want to wait until I get an intake, IC piping, and all that good stuff before I get a reflash, as new mods won't be able to be "tuned" unless you get another reflash.
Anyone know if DynoFlash offers 1 free flash after like Works does?
It should only take us about an hour to tune a SAFC if the current setting are close to where they need to be. If your AFR is really far off to start then it may take us a little longer (another hour), but for most people an hour would be enough. Each hour of AWD tuning is $160. Hope this helps.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
so is this thing actually on or what...?
have you gotten a definitive answer from Al...?
i talked to al, he said he needs 1 day's notice :) so its good.
cool... i hope AMS has my DP by then... ;)
well, i'm out... i was told by Al he won't work on my car, cause i said that Pruven callback policy SUCKS... here's the message i got from him...
Sorry to report that today after you posted anti - pruven comments on the tri-state message board I have made decision that I will not work on your car
I have gone out of my way to accomidate you by trying to fit you into the dyno day and answering all your questions - i don't know where you are comming from but its not someplace i need to be
Best of luck

11-04-2003, 17:40
Huh. Is Al being paid by Pruven or something?
And last I checked this was a free country. Everyone is entitled to a free opinion... that's kinda of a whiny attitude if you ask me.
Aaron, did Agile confirm you for Dyno time for tuning your AFR? I asked them about tuning my SAFCII (same deal, easily less than an hour) but they said there was NO WAY they could fit me in. Do you have their email? I'd like to call to discuss a time to rearrange, probably early in december if I can't convince them to do the 29th. Thanks.

no, we're 1 short on dyno flashes diesel, upset them so they won't work on his car
Hey, if the guy is man enough to not be a baby about the whole thing i'll still get in...
Again, all i said was the Pruven callback sucks... they do not return phone calls & emails...
is that cause to not want to work on someone's car...?

I see Agile has proposed Nov. 15th for the general dyno day because there won't be time on the 29th since it will be tied up with reflashes. Isn't that the same day as the Mach V meeting?
yes it is, i emailed hill and told him that, so we'll probably have to wait until december, which was suggested by him when we first started thinking about this, BTW there is room for 2-3 more dynoflashes that day

When I talked to Agile today I told them I was worried because only 5 people were signed up and if even one person backed out we'd be in trouble. They were pretty optimistic the reflash was going to happen. I think they have one extra person who wasn't on the forum list.

I would like to get in but I'm not sure at this point. $600 bux? Hmmmm....not sure.
Does the reflash void my warranty? I only have a BOV, do I need to reflash/re-tune for bolt on mod I do? Is the reflash to stock really free and trouble-free to get done when so many others seem to getting flash work and dyno runs. In other words, will these guys promptly at the next available moment service you well after the fact or will you get put off continually due the "paying" customers?
I'm not being cynical, just want to know about their customer service levels.

I get the impression from reading the posts on the big forum that the real issue is how many can be realistically completed in one day. Once that many folks have signed up it's full. Agile or Al really need to answer the question.

Anyone that's planning to convoy up: I am planning on leaving pretty early to head up there (8-ish). I don't mind meeting wherever. I don't know where Agile is yet, either, but someplace on the way would be good for everyone. I'd hate for Aaron to have to backtrack...

I'm getting my SAFC tuned before the reflashes start. My appointment is set for 9am, so I'll probably be the first there... (gotta leave by 8 at the latest, I would think).
I'll be rolling up early, so if anyone wants to leave that early just lemme know.

I'll roll with you - where do you live?

I'm in McLean, about 5 min off the beltway, and about 5 min from the MD border. I assume the beltway would be the quickest way there?
yes, take it toward baltimore, then take 495 or 95 around baltimore, and you need to get to I-81
well why don't we meet in a central location?

That's a great idea - Tyson's II is easy to get to and has direct access to 495. Just a thought. I'd like to go early (8-ish), since I want to see what people are putting down.

Tysons II sounds good. I don't know how far it is, but I have to be there by 9. I'll check mapquest in a couple of days to get a estimated time of travel.
BTW, has anyone done the SS clutch line? I have one I need to install.. maybe we can have like a mini install fest of helping each other out with stuff while we're all there getting flashed? Just an idea.

I did the ss clutch line. If it's cool with Hill and Mike (Agile) I'll help ya put it on. The only thing that's a bitch is getting the to bolt up to the clutch master cyl. There is not much room to get your hand in there. If anything you should take out the restrictor in the slave cyl. That's simple.

We will need brake fluid right?
How much do I need to buy, and is it ok to just fill it with something new without doing a flush?
I called them today and found I'm marked down for the 12:00 time slot. I'm not sure how they plan on spreading the word about the schedule for each person. If you call them be sure to talk to Hill because the other guy (Mike?) doesn't really know the setup.

For the caravan up, how about this:
Date: November 29
Time: 07:30am
Place: Tyson's II (in front of Macy's where we meet on Fridays)
If anyone has another suggestion, please post it.

Dude.. if you go I'll help you put it in there. It's real easy. Bring all your AFC stuff, including your harness, wire stripper, electric tape, and a pair of pliers. Oh, and also the wire numbers for which ones you need to tap into. It'll take no more than 15 min. :)

Yea you do need brake fluid and a speed bleeder too. We'll be there untill sunday without one. If you don't have one I could bring one.

Hill said he was going to post the times on the big board.

Cool, can you bring a speed bleeder then? Also, for brake fluid, we can just refill it with any old brake fluid right? Does it matter that they mix and match inside the the reservoir tank? Maybe I'll try to pick up some ATE SuperBlue...
i have a speed bleeder but you don't need that stuff, just bring fluid and let gravity help you :) thats how mine is done :) FYI i'll be at tyson's II :)

Being nearly automechanically illiterate, I need to see this. I'll be doing the AFC thing shortly and if I can do it myself that would be a great option for me.

I wish Agile had called or sent PM's instead of posting actual names on the big forum. I wouldn't put it past Mitsubishi to flag the master service record of the respective vehicles based on the customer names and impacting future warranty claims.

Crap guys, something came up and I can't go.
It's okay, cause I couldn't get dyno time tomorrow anyway.
For those of you guys meeting up at the galleria, count me out. :( My bad!

Hey guys:)
leaving Richmond around 11am, should be there 1ish. (my appt is for 2:45pm).
I have to wash the car before I bring it up - it's shamefully dirty right now!
I've done the ss line and restrictor so if you guys are still around I can jump in a bust a knuckle if you need it :)

Was nice meeting everyone!
Hopefully I'll be able to get up there for some other meets in the future...maybe closer to NoVA instead of MD next time:)
BTW, traffic was just as shitty coming back, DC area had some nice back ups. Nothing new there, though. Makes me glad I live where I do - I don't think I could handle that stuff day to day :)
*edit* Dale had a good point about the names on EvoM.net. If you can at least get the last names edited off of that, I'd appreciate that, Nastea:)
I hope to hear from those people who flashed their ecu :)

I didn't gain any power (since I had a flash already), but Al fixed my air/fuel ratios and ignition (spark) advance throughout the rev range. It is running very smoothly now with no detonation. Everyone else gained at least 20+hp (according to my butt dyno) and Agile is giving 3 free pulls to the people that flashed today. I was VERY impressed with Al's knowledge. Those people that bad-mouth him need to give him a chance before they spout off.

I shoulda posted about my flash I guess...:)
For you guys that weren't there, the Dynoflash is awesome. I didn't really get a good feel for how much of a difference it made until today. Just seems like driving up for 3 hours to MD kinda numbed me to the feel of my car. Made it somewhat difficult to guage what a difference the flash did.
I can tell you, after today, it made a HUGE difference. First thing my fiancee said was that it was much smoother - and I definitely agree. Nice power gains, down low and up top, being much more noticeably stronger on the top end from say 5500-7900 (new redline).
I think I'm done with the car:) Very happy with where I stand on mods and the feel of the car. With just the Dynoflash and the Buschur turbo-back, I think it's perfect! Maybe someday I'll break out the mod stick again and go at it some more (Mike had me tempted), but I'm good for now!
