This is Yohan, who is an owner of a red 03 evo that's been at DTM for about 4 months. My brother, Soohan (under same username), made a thread complaining about the car's delays, as it seemed like the car was just put on a back burner and only got worked on when they had free time. Well, I spoke to Nick for the first time in 4 months and he cleared things up for me. So I want to clear things up here and state that was NOT the case. It is really easy to miscommunicate when someone is speaking for you, and that was the case here. I put my brother in charge about the car as I am in ROK (Republic of Korea) Army as a 2nd leiutenant right now, and I was in officer's training course until end of June. It was really hard for me to find time to contact Nick personally even after I got out of training due to me being in a different time zone and being really busy being involved with combined exercise with US forces - Korea.
Anyway, what happened was the car was not built right in the first place, and DTM was having tremendous problems with it. When they were rebuilding the engine, the block had to go in and out of the machine shop because a bolt would get stripped... something would be out of spec... etc. And that caused delays as once the block went to the shop, it took time for them to get the block back and then took some more time for another car on the lift to be finished for mine to be back in. Plus they had wiring issues... the fuel line was a hack job... close to everything on the car was installed inproperly according to Nick. He told me it was very frustrating to work on my car during a race season and busy schedule, which I appreciate him for.
He wanted me to have a car that I can just get in and drive, and just change the oil. He's taking care of issues that I've never dreamed of. I have to say that DTM is being very caring and professional about building my car, as well as all the other cars which I have no doubt about. So Nick told me everything will be installed by the end of this week and car will be running, which is when they will start the break-in process. I don't doubt they will meet the schedule, because in the past when I was in tight schedule and needed the car back ASAP, Nick finished the car a couple days early for me, which was very nice of him. I'm glad that I left the car with him now that I know everything will be done right and I won't have to have the car in and out of shop fixing things. I have no doubts that he will do a perfect job on it as my past experience with Nick had been nothing but great, and he had gone out of his ways in order to help me out, even if it meant that he won't be making any money on this project.
As for the lack of updates, he instructed guys at the shop to not give updates to my brother as only he fully knew what was going on with the car. He didn't want any misunderstanding. And being 10,000 miles away and with his busy schedule, it was just really hard for us to reach each other.
So hopefully this clears up the doubts that my brother's post might have caused for DTM. I think very highly of Nick for his willingness to help people out even if it means going out of his way, and also of his professionalism.
I will give updates as soon as the car is out of DTM and here in Korea, as to how good of a job they did for me, but judging from my personal experience with Nick and the way he's been treating this project, I have no doubts that I will have a car that I will be very happy with. My great past experience with Nick was the reason I left the car with him while I was going back to Korea, as I trusted him. I had to say I had my doubts after the car's been in the shop for such a long time, but I feel stupid about it after speaking to him personally.
I would like to apologize for any damage to Nick's reputation that my brother's post have caused, and hopefully this makes up for it. I thank Nick for his efforts, help, and understanding. I understand how disencouraging things like this can be when you're doing all you can and then some wanting to help someone out.
This concludes my briefing... errr.... post. haha. :D Sorry for the long post but I hope those who read my brother's post will take time to read this whole thing.
