View Full Version : My Evo X Tuned at DTM

I went up to DTM this past Saturday to meet up with some friends and finally get my X tuned. Despite the crumby weather, it was still a great turn out.

Overall, I'm very happy with the tune. Nick finally got rid of the high RPM "studder" problems I had with the car even after the second dealer reflash. Before the tune the 4B11 just felt like it was struggling at WOT. :18:

After the tune it pulls much harder, all the way up to redline. The power delivery is very smooth and I felt a huge difference in torque.

My Mods: Buschur Dual Cat Back Exhaust and a K/N cone filter.

I have to thank Nick for an awesome job with the tune, along with the rest of the DTM guys. I also got some great info on what to do next with the Evo. Since the tune is $450 lifetime (unless I change injectors or go with a bigger turbo) I can come back with a retune after a slap on more bolt-ons... nice!.

Anyway, here is a quick vid and a pic of the numbers.

It's interesting to see how the CAI compares to the exhaust. MACHEVO X, can you post up the graph?

Seyla,
That is not exactly correct. The basline for CAI already had my base flash in the ECU

Thanks for the kind words.. You have quite a bit still left in the equation. Your running a bit less boost than Mark. But that can easily be remedied...

That explains a lot. I thought Mark's car was running more boost, but since an aftermarket boost controller wasn't mentioned, I thought it was more air going into the head creating more load or ECU controlled boost.

The gains on a custom tune vs base flash is impressive. Especially the richness of the powerband.

AHH... that explains whole lot, the MadMsheen, Speedo and I were trying to figure out how Mark's baseline was much higher than mine. I thought he had a factory freak Evo or that AEM intake you were raving about was really that good. How much more boost is Mark running?

Sorry guys I forgot to mention that I had a baseline tune from Nick 2 weeks ago. I'm not sure how much more boost but thought it might have been 2psi more than stock.

Mike, any clue what psi you are running? I didn't see it on the dynograph so I wasn't sure.

I love my X so far and all the aftermarket support for it. Feels really responsive after the tune, big difference from when I got it from the factory.

$450 lifetime for X's (unless you change turbos or go with bigger injectors)
$350 lifetime for 8's & 9's (unless you change turbos or go with bigger injectors)

I'm really liking the numbers the X's are producing! Can't wait to see some local guys hitting the 400whp mark on pump gas and stock turbo. I may then just have to consider dumping the F for one. :P

Actually this is pretty hard to do and cannot be done on a mustang type dyno.

I was giving them the benefit of the doubt as it was going down...I didn't exactly want to believe I was ripped off.. Then after overwhelming evidence and the fact DTM doesn't exist anymore..I'm as bitter as the next guy who didn't really get what they paid for..

Them being dead to us was just a joke..
